Rooms and Suites
The accommodations at the Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain were super comfortable – luxurious linens and towels, bathrobes for each guest, slippers and everything one might need in a hotel room.
Plenty of spring water was available and replenished daily. A small fridge was also in each room. Nespresso machines with coffee, as well as Tazo tea were also included. Each room had a balcony which we used and enjoyed daily.
The bathroom had double sinks, a spacious shower, and a huge soaking tub. The bath amenities were by far one of our favorite luxury French perfumeries – Diptyque! ❤️
A super nice touch was the inclusion of a small card with the turn-down service, which listed different constellations with their descriptions. On a clear night, we were able to see plenty of stars and used the aforementioned card guides to identify the different constellations.
Our stay was extremely comfortable and very relaxing! 💯
Dining options at the Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain
Five different dining options are available at the Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain.
- The Ignite Lounge and Bar is just stunning and offers a great selection of cocktails, beer and wine, and plenty of super tasty foods, including tacos, sushi and more. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and the views of the Tortolita Mountains. Open 12:30pm – 9:30pm.
- The Turquesa Latin Grill is located by the main pool and is very casual and popular. It features a great selection of tequilas and Latin-inspired food with plenty of local influences. Open 11am -4:00pm.
- The Core Kitchen and Wine Bar was our main choice for breakfast. It offers a buffet-style breakfast with plenty of options as well as à la carte locally influenced menu items. This restaurant is also open for dinner and requires reservations, which you can grab here.
- The Cayton’s Restaurant, located at the golf course, is another option with menu items influenced by the American South. This restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and also requires a reservation, which you can make here.
- The To/Go Cafe is another casual option open for breakfast. It featured fresh pastries, smoothies, and freshly squeezed orange juice, as well as a variety of coffee drinks made to order. A very convenient option with lots of super tasty items on the menu.
- Room service is also available, but we preferred to visit and enjoy the restaurants. Of note is that there is plenty of room to enjoy room service on the balcony while marveling at the beautiful surroundings.
Other amenities
Pools
The Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain has three pools to choose from. There are plenty of chaise lounges and some hammocks available on multiple pool decks. There are also fruit-flavored waters, sunscreen bottles and plenty of fluffy towels. Additionally, a large multi-person jacuzzi is located near the main pool. At times, the pools seemed overcrowded to us. However, they were open until 10pm daily and that ensured that there was plenty of time to enjoy them in a quieter environment. Finally, a 235-foot water slide is also available and in heavy use by the younger visitors at the hotel.
Of note is that at 5pm daily, a local flutist plays soothing Native American music, adding to the tranquility of the hotel. We loved that! ❤️
Spa
The Spa at the Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain is absolutely breathtaking❤️. From the architecture of the exterior to the beautiful interiors, it is a must-try while at the hotel. A spa appointment enables you to enjoy the amenities for a full day, and there is plenty to experience – steam rooms and saunas, outdoor showers and jacuzzis separated by gender, a mixed-gender saltwater pool and multi-person jacuzzi, and food and drinks you can order by the pool.
The treatments are inspired by the locale as well as the desert and were super enjoyable. Be sure to book your service here. For a $100/day fee, hotel guests can enjoy the Spa amenities during their stay.
Fitness Center and Golf
Complimentary access to a full-service fitness center is also available; the center is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Group classes are also available.
If you are into golfing, a 27-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course is just steps away. It has a driving range, and you can even rent equipment if you didn’t bring your own.
Sonoran desert hiking
There are plenty of really well-marked hiking trails starting at the hotel or very nearby. In fact, if you do not want to leave the Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain hotel, you can find plenty of excellent hiking right off the hotel grounds. ❤️ We highly recommend that you explore as many of the trails as you can.
Of note is that at different times of the year (we hiked in early May), there are bugs that seem to be everywhere on the trails, and they were worse on Dove Mountain than in other areas. The hotel provides bug spray, and we highly advise that you use it and take it with you while hiking.
