On our trip to Sofia, Bulgaria, we stayed at the centrally located Hyatt Regency Sofia. We picked the hotel for two reasons – its location and because it is a relatively new hotel. Our stay was perfect from the moment we checked in to the last day and we think you will really enjoy this hotel.
It was hard to believe that this is not a five-star hotel. People who have stayed there really like it – it has a very high rating on Trip Advisor – and it is also an excellent value for what you get. The hotel feels luxurious and offers everything you might need and more. A great choice all around!

- Rooms and suites also have generous bathrooms with rain showers.
- All rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows for great views of Sofia or the nice and quiet backyard.

Checking in/out of the Hyatt Regency Sofia
Check-in at the Hyatt Regency Sofia is 2pm, which is a bit earlier than at other Hyatt hotels, and check-out is 12pm. If you arrive early the hotel will store your bags at a minimum and will also accommodate you if your room is not available. Additionally, if you are a World of Hyatt program member, you can request a late check out. Becoming a World of Hyatt program member is free, and it provides great program loyalty perks – early check-in, late check-out, free breakfast (at the Globalist level) and more. We highly recommend it.
Rooms and Suites
Upon arrival at the Hyatt Regency Sofia, we got upgraded to a suite and we absolutely loved it. ❤️ We had so much space and great views of the Vasil Levski square. If you stay here, you should request a room with a view of the city square. The bedding was of good quality, and we noticed that all sheets and bath linens were Made in Bulgaria. ❤️ Having a coffee machine and mineral water were great bonuses that we really enjoyed. Also, the TVs in our suite were huge (65″) and this was especially valuable when watching sporting events. Our bathroom had double sinks, a walk-in rain shower, bathtub with an additional rain shower, and a separate toilet area. We also had two wardrobes. This all made for an extremely comfortable stay.
Dining options
The Hyatt Regency Sofia offers a number of different dining options:
- The Revolutionary Dining Room and Bar serve Italian food and have great ambiance. Of note is that we did not eat at this restaurant, as we preferred to explore Bulgarian food.
- The Scene rooftop bar is simply spectacular and offers excellent views of the city and the Vitosha mountain. A must see! ❤️
- Mama Sofia café is conveniently located in the hotel lobby. You can order coffee and local pastries.
- If you stay in a Regency Club Room or are a Hyatt Globalist you can enjoy access to the Regency Club Lounge serving complimentary breakfast, tea, coffee, soft drinks, as well as cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the evening.
